Under 10's : Littleton Juniors 1-1 Inkberrow Eagles
The weather has had differing effects, and the surprise at Littleton was the hardness of the pitch. Whilst we have in the majority slogged through the winter and early spring months on the soggy, muddy ground, occasionally pitches catch you by surprise. And so it was at Littleton. An early foray forward brought no reward and a sudden breakaway by Littleton in the first 10 minutes saw a cruel bounce and spin take the ball into Inkberrow's net. No matter. This team are made of stern stuff. Heads did not go down, and an instant return to attacking football. 5 minutes later, the equaliser. Luka again causing panic in the opposition defence, saw his persistence pay off and he rifled the ball home. Equal terms, and the team pushed on. Half time and scores were still level. The second half was more of the same. A great reaction save by Alex, mopped up by Tom saw any danger averted. The bounce sometimes confusing both teams as did a few areas which were starting to see prolific grass growth due to the weather warming in recent weeks. As a last throw of the dice the team was changed to a risky formation for the final 10 minutes of all out attack, leaving 1 defender and 1 midfielder to mop up breakaways. And still the game could have gone either way. Special mention to man of the match Alex, who was called upon to not only play one half of the match in goal, but also the second. And for each block and save, his confidence grew. Well done. This coming weekend sees the visit of Welford - top of the league and unbeaten. It will be a stern test but the team is looking forward to it. Come on you Eagles!
